Fly Fishing Tournament

Tournament Rules and Regs

The tournament entry fee is $50.

All participants receive an awesome swag bag of fishing gear!

The purpose of the fishing tournament is to bring the community together to have fun while maintaining our beautiful local resource. Have a good time, catch some fish, and pack out some trash!

  1. The official tournament start time is at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 31st, 2025. The official end time is 4:00 P.M on Sunday, June 1st, 2025.

  2. Only 1 or 2 barbless flies may be used. Any combination of flies may be used. All forms of fly fishing are allowed with the exception of center- pinning.

  3. Catch and release only please. We are hoping to help our fishery support a robust wild fish population.

  4. All species of fish count the same. Size will only be counted for the "Largest Fish" category so you'll only need to measure fish you think may be the biggest. Measurements will only be counted when measured from the tip of the nose along the lateral line to the tip of the tail

  5. Fish do not have to be held in order to qualify for scoring. They can remain in the net as long as we can tell there is a fish and a visible tournament card.

  6. Get a picture of every fish you catch along side a tournament card to be counted in scoring. Make sure we can tell you are on the river!

  7. In order to maintain a fair playing field, no watercraft are allowed to be used for tournament purposes. All fishing must be done from foot access only.

  8. Fishing is allowed during all legal hours of the day and you must comply with all local Nevada Department of Wildlife Laws and Regulations.

  9. Most Importantly have fun and be honest! We are hoping to create a community of people who care for the well-being of this incredible resource and bring them together to keep the Truckee as beautiful and healthy as it can be.
